It covers how managing an SAP implementation differs from traditional software engineering projects, the types of SAP projects, and the foundational elements of SAP project governance.

Topics Covered:

  • Understand the fundamental difference between implementing a configurable, commercial system like SAP and engineering a new custom-built software.
  • Gain a high level overview of the SAP ecosystem key SAP modules (functional areas) and system architecture. Understanding how SAP’s modules integrate helps in grasping project scope and dependencies
  • Participants will also be introduced to SAP S/4HANA and the concept of a “clean core” implementation using SAP BTP capabilities
  • Learn the various types of SAP implementation projects  including Greenfield, Brownfield, Rollout and Upgrade
  • Understand how requirements gathering and scope definition in SAP projects differ from routine IT projects.
  • Project Organization & Governance Setup
  • Governance and Classic Key Roles in SAP Programs
  • The evolution of new roles within SAP programs attributed to the introduction of recent SAP innovations in development and AI.
  • SAP RAID Management
  • SAP Risk Assessment Profiles
  • Overview of Organizational Change Management (OCM)

MODULE 2 | Plan and Govern the Program

MODULE 1 | SAP Foundations for Project Managers

MODULE 1 | SAP Foundations for Project Managers

  • Scope Discovery and Requirements Definition
  • Value-driven prioritization
  • Solution Design and Integration Definition
  • Mapping Requirements to Success Criteria
  • Planning Data Management Activities
  • SAP Quality and Testing Planning, application of controlled Failure delivery practices and consistent feedback culture implementation.

MODULE 3 | Build, Integrate, and Move Data

MODULE 1 | SAP Foundations for Project Managers

MODULE 4 | Test, Train, Cutover, and Go-Live

This module covers the execution / realization phase of an SAP project where the SAP solution is configured, built, and integrated. It also addresses the technical and practical aspects of turning the design into a working system, including software configuration, custom development, system integration, and data migration.

Topics Covered:

  • Understand how SAP system environments (Development, Testing, Production, etc.) are used during project execution.
  • Planning SAP environment commissioning, refresh schedules, and transport migration of configuration and code through these systems.
  • SAP System Configuration & Development
  • Mapping Requirements to Configurations / Customizations and Test Cases
  • SAP Integration Management
  • Data Migration Strategy Definition
  • Organizing design reviews, code reviews for custom developments
  • Organization Change Management Planning and stakeholder analysis, communication planning, training programs, and user engagement activities
  • Training and Knowledge Transfer

MODULE 4 | Test, Train, Cutover, and Go-Live

MODULE 5 | Scaling Agile for Complex SAP Programs

MODULE 4 | Test, Train, Cutover, and Go-Live

Module 4 covers the critical phases of testing the SAP solution, preparing for go-live, and managing organizational change. It follows the chronological journey through integration testing, user acceptance, cutover planning, and the initial post-go-live support (hypercare), with a strong emphasis on change management to ensure the solution is adopted successfully.
